Where are we?
The climate in the region is Mediterranean-Continental, with
hot, dry days and cool nights in summer. The area is ideal for walking and
cycling, with a multitude of dirt tracks and paths running between vines and
olive trees. With a bit of luck you will also spot some of the local fauna
(partridges, rabbits, foxes, boars, etc.). Barberà is within easy reach of the
itinerary known as the Ruta del Cister, linking up the three monasteries of
Poblet, Santes Creus and Vallbona de les Monges. Another interesting local
place to visit outside Barbera is the old quarter of Montblanc, 10 minutes
away. Reus, 15 minutes away, is a good place to do some shopping. The ancient
Roman city of Tarragona, 30 minutes away, has a well-preserved old quarter and
monuments. And should you want some thrills, Port Aventura and the famous beach
resorts of Salou and Cambrils are just 40 minutos away. Other, more tranquil
beaches are also within easy reach (around 30-60 minutes away by car).
